Excelsior Springs boys win, girls third at Lawson meet
LAWSON – Both Excelsior Springs varsity track programs brought home top-three finishes April 26 from the Nick Sloop Invitational at Lawson.
The boys program won the team title. The Excelsior Springs girls placed third.
The boys won nine events en route to their championship. Junior Donovan Paige ran away from the competition in the 100-meter dash, finishing in 11.69 seconds, immediately followed by sophomore Jared King with a season-best time of 11.71.
Freshman Mason Wartner won the 1,600 meter run in 5:01.47, with freshman Braedyn Sejkora finishing seventh in 5:34.55.
Junior Tyler Rumore won the 3,200 in 10:49.9.
Sophomore Gavin Wilmes won the 110 high hurdles in 17.91, with sophomore Andrew DeOrnellis taking fourth with a season-best 19.28 and sophomore Braxton Moffett finishing sixth in 20.64.
