A former Excelsior Springs baseball player is living out a dream since his playing career ended.Jaxen Gibson, a 2019 Excelsior Springs High School graduate, recently finished his second season as a graduate assistant coach at Mineral Area College, a Park Hills-based junior college. Working with the pitchers, Gibson helped Mineral Area win its first NJCAA Division I Region 16 title this season. After winning the championship, the Cardinals fell to Eastern Oklahoma State College in the South Central District Series.During his time at Mineral Area, Gibson has coached two regional pitchers of the year and a regional player of the year.
