Varsity netters aim for turnaround season
In 2024, Excelsior Springs went 5-9 in varsity boys tennis duals.The Tigers expect their dual record for 2025 to be different.“We return a lot of experience this year, and with the work ethic we have shown, we are confident we will be able to flip this season around,” coach Richie Marsh said.The return of four players from last season gives Marsh and the team cause for optimism. They are seniors Austin Collins, Grayson Grove, Jack Dearing and Owen Peterson.Collins, who returns as Excelsior Springs’ No. 1 singles player, finished third last season in district competition. Grove will begin the season as the No. 2 singles player and play on the No. 1 doubles team with Collins.Dearing and Peterson will play No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.
