The Excelsior Springs Hospital Board of Trustees voted on Monday to approve a resolution that will solidify and expand the longstanding collaboration between ESH and North Kansas City Hospital.
The agreement was approved on a 4-0 vote, with board member Dr. Robert Shemwell abstaining.
The agreement, effective July 1, is a two-year renewable arrangement under which NKCH will provide operational oversight over ESH. Sally Nance, who has been CEO of Excelsior Springs Hospital for 24 years, will continue in that position—but she will officially be on North Kansas City Hospital’s payroll. All other ESH employees will continue to be employed by ESH.
“The partnership means that our community will have seamless, local access to NKCH’s extensive network of specialists and services, and the hospital will have access to their financial and operational expertise,” Nance stated in a press release issued Monday afternoon.
