Children will soon have an opportunity to meet some special visitors as a local church invites families to begin a summer adventure inspired by one of the Bible’s most recognizable stories.Calvary Christian Union will host a petting zoo at 2 p.m. on June 13 at 438 Benton Avenue, as the kickoff event for its Ocean Commotion Vacation Bible School. The weeklong program will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 15-19 and is open to children ages 2-12.The kickoff event was designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the week’s Noah’s Flood theme.Church affiliate Josh Allen explained organizers wanted the opening event to connect directly to the subject children will explore throughout Vacation Bible School.“When people think of Noah’s Ark, they also think of animals,” stated Allen. “We thought it fitting to have a kickoff event that interactively included this aspect.”In addition to the petting zoo, families will have an ...
