The Excelsior Springs City Council looks different after Friday's special meeting swore in a new council member and selected a new mayor. Sharon Powell was chosen as mayor and Sonya Morgan as mayor pro-tem by the new city council which now includes Andrew Kowalski. The special meeting took place Friday, June 12 at 8:30 a.m. in the Hall of Waters council chambers with Powell and Kowalski taking their oath of office. Kowalski replaces Ambrose Buckman after winning the June 2 election. Mayor Powell made a proclamation honoring Buckman for his service on the council.
