A civic engagement initiative tied to America’s upcoming 250th celebration is encouraging Clay County residents to become more involved in their communities through activities focused on government, history and public service.The challenge, created by Clay County volunteers with support from Missouri Humanities, encourages residents to complete community-focused tasks tied to the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary on July 4. Participants earn points through the program and can receive a commemorative challenge coin and public recognition after reaching seven points.A total of six Clay County residents received challenge coins and recognition through the program during recent Clay County Commission meetings.
