Excelsior Springs’ Community Development Department highlighted accomplishments across several initiatives during 2025 — from neighborhood block parties and volunteer programs to code enforcement and development review.

Community Development Director Mallory Brown presented the department’s annual report to council members at a recent meeting, outlining neighborhood services, code compliance efforts, planning and zoning activity, permitting trends and future initiatives.

Brown began the report by reflecting on 2025, which marked her first full year serving as community development director.

The department welcomed Joshua Garrett, Lance Flamley and Julia Goldstein to the team during the year. Brown emphasized the additions helped strengthen the department as it continued providing services related to planning, code compliance, permitting and neighborhood programs.
