Local residents who have more recyclables than they can handle—or who don’t recycle because they dislike the idea of holding onto their recyclables long enough for the every-two-weeks pickup schedule have some relief coming soon.
The Excelsior Springs City Council voted 5-0 Monday night to amend their contract with Allied Waste to start weekly curbside recycling for the entire community. The change takes effect Feb. 1 and the new contract amendment extends the terms up through June 30, 2020. There will be no increase to the amount billed this year, but the 3.5 percent annual increase remains in place.
