ES woman pleads guilty to reduced child endangerment charge

An Excelsior Springs woman charged in a 2024 child abuse case has been sentenced to one year in jail with execution of the sentence suspended, following her guilty plea to a reduced misdemeanor charge.Kayla L. Woods, 25, recently appeared before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Timothy Flook, where she entered a plea agreement in the case of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. The state amended the endangering the welfare of a child charge from a felony to a class A misdemeanor.Woods was sentenced to one year in the Clay County Jail with execution of the sentence suspended. She was placed on two years of supervised probation under Midwest ADP and ordered to successfully complete all classes and treatment required by the Clay County Family Court, including an anger management course.
