Head-on collision leaves two dead, teen injured

Two men from Missouri City were killed and an Excelsior Springs teenager was seriously injured early Saturday morning in a head-on collision on Missouri 210, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 5:43 a.m. on Sept. 6, west of Bluff Road, when an eastbound 2012 Chevrolet Malibu crossed the center line and struck a westbound 2003 Ford F-150. Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.

The 62-year-old driver of the pickup and his 60-year-old passenger, both from Missouri City, were fatally injured. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by Liberty Fire Department paramedic Erica Walley at 6:23 a.m., according to the report. The driver was transported to North Kansas City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:39 a.m.

The Malibu’s driver, an 18-year-old woman from Excelsior Springs, suffered serious injuries despite wearing a seat belt. She was taken by Liberty Fire to North Kansas City Hospital.
