A jury trial has been scheduled in the case of Gary Dean Tackett Jr.,

who pled not guilty to several charges, including statutory sodomy, during an arraignment hearing last year.

The 38-yearold Excelsior Springs resident is currently being held on a $100,000 cash bond at the Clay County Detention Center. He faces two felony charges, including statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy involving a person less than 12 years of age and fourthdegree child molestation involving a child less than 17 years old, with the offender being more than four years older.

Tackett recently attended a trial setting hearing before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Karen Krauser. During this hearing, Krauser scheduled a one-day jury trial to begin at 9 a.m. on Sept. 29. Additionally, Tackett is set to appear for a pretrial conference at 9 a.m. on Sept. 11.
