Excelsior Springs wins four of five ballgames
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers had their winningest week of the varsity baseball season last week.
Excelsior Springs closed April and started May by going 4-1, with wins over Van Horn, Center, Odessa and Jefferson City. They started the week April 26 with a 7-1 win over Van Horn at Roper Stadium.
The Tigers scored three runs without getting a hit in the fourth inning, taking advantage of four free passes. They then added four runs in the sixth inning on four hits.
Freshman Brayden Lewis picked up the pitching win, going five innings, striking out six and hitting a batter.
Offensively, senior Jalen Soria collected two hits and an RBI. Sophomore Brendan Blackburn collected two hits and two runs.
On April 27, Excelsior Springs crushed visiting Center 16-1 in three innings. The game was ended because of the 15-run mercy rule.
