Four-time state medalist signs letter of intent to wrestle
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Damon Ashworth might add to his wrestling medals collection over the next few years.
Ashworth, who graduated in May from Excelsior Springs High School, recently signed a letter of intent to continue his education and wrestling career at Minnesota West Community and Technical College in Worthington. He begins his postsecondary academic and athletic pursuits a few months after finishing a high school wrestling career that included four state medals. He finished sixth in the 120-pound division as freshman and fifth at 132 as a sophomore, then won the 152 Class 2 state title as a junior and was the Class 2 runner-up at 160 as a senior.
Ashworth finished his career at Excelsior Springs with a 155-29 record and his name on the wrestling room wall as a four-time state medalist.
While in Worthington, Ashworth will work in the electrical trades program, continuing the work he did at the
Excelsior Springs Career Center.
