EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The City Council set the tax levy Sept. 27. Then, on Sept. 29, it set the levy again. During a Sept. 27 special meeting, the council approved an ordinance to set the levy at $1.0932 per $100 of assessed valuation. But mathematical errors in the itemization prompted the Sept. 29 special meeting to void the first ordinance and approve another one. As approved during the second special meeting, the overall levy amount for 2021 taxes is $1.0889 per $100 assessed valuation. Under the revised ordinance, the general purposes amount collected is 59.03 cents per $100 of assessed valuation, down from 59.25 in the original; and the park amount is 16.62 cents, down from 16.69 in the original, city documents state.
