City awards $15,000 in grants to community groups

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The city awarded $15,000 in community grants last month. The Downtown Excelsior Partnership received a $2,500 grant and two for $1,500 each. The $2,500 grant will help with video-related promotion regarding Visit Excelsior, a city newsletter stated. One $1,500 grant went to “a business recruitment plan to retail/residential recon, space utilization of indoor/outdoor space, consider needs of vacant or underutilized property and marketing recommendations,” the newsletter stated. The other went to Second Fridays, a monthly promotion of Excelsior Springs businesses. The Chamber of Commerce received two grants totaling $7,250. Weekend transportation “within shopping districts” received $5,000 and $2,500 went toward the 2022 Waterfest, the city stated.
