Girls grapplers win three titles at Kearney tourney
KEARNEY – The Tigers had three individual titles to show for their Jan. 7 trip to Kearney, where they competed in a varsity girls wrestling tournament.
Seniors Jacey Brewer and Paige Barber, and junior Vada Burton brought home first-place medals. Brewer secured her 125-pound A division title by defeating Lawson’s Josie Briant 4-0, and Marceline’s Emmy Smithhisler and Fort Osage’s Allison Kraemer each by fall.
Burton’s championship in the 130A division came by defeating Platte County’s Elizabeth Humburg and Kearney’s Grace Breshears by fall.
Barber’s night in the 135A division consisted of wins by fall over Marceline’s Ashlynn Skinner and Alissa Harris of Sumner Academy of Arts and Science, a Kansas City, Kansas, school.
