The Excelsior Springs varsity girls tennis team is on a quest, according to coach Richie Marsh.“The girls have set a goal to … get back to the district final and claim the championship once again after falling short last year,” Marsh said.Depth will be key for the girls as they pursue their goal. All the players from last season’s district runner-up team return.Those returners include the two-time district championship doubles tandem of Shelby Stodden and Malaya Tedesco, both seniors. If Stodden and Tedesco win a third straight district doubles title, they would be the first-ever Excelsior Springs girls doubles team to achieve a threepeat.Stodden holds the top singles position.
