Biermann tests skills at nationals
An Excelsior Springs High School senior has taken his golf game to the national level.That young man is Landon Biermann, who played at the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour 16-18 National Championships. The two-day tournament, which concluded Sunday at the Shingle Creeks Golf Club in Orlando, Fla., featured 81 high school-aged golfers.“Traveling and playing with golfers from all over will make me a better golfer because I was able to see how good these kids are and how much they practice, helping me see how much I need to push myself,” Biermann said.Biermann shot an 83 for his first 18-hole round – a 41 on the front nine and a 42 on the back.“I struggled the first day just getting the nerves out of the way,” he recalled. “But after the first few holes, I felt O.K.”Biermann shot a 78 Sunday.
