A long-awaited jury trial for an Excelsior Springs woman facing multiple felony charges related to sexual abuse, has been canceled. Both the defense and prosecution requested that the court postpone the trial due to unresolved motions, issues with witnesses and delays in the proceedings.Desiree A. Alexander, 38, was charged with nine felonies and one misdemeanor in 2022. These charges include three counts of first-degree rape or attempted rape, two counts of abuse or neglect of a child, first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy, incest, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree attempted sexual abuse and misdemeanor first-degree sexual misconduct.Alexander was initially set to go to trial on May 19. However, court records now indicate the trial, along with all related hearings scheduled for the week of May 20, have been canceled.
