ES grads hope to remain teammates
Metropolitan Community College (MCC)-Maple Woods might have three members of Excelsior Springs’ 2026 Class 4 state championship baseball team on its roster next season.
Henry Crowley, Cruz Lloyd and Brody Querry each discussed their plans to play for the Kansas City-based school following the Tigers’ championship rally June 4 in the Excelsior Springs High School gym. Lloyd, who caught the final out in Excelsior Springs’ 2-0 victory over Orchard Farm in the state title game, said he has talked with MCC-Maple Woods head coach Aaron Meade about playing there.
“I already go to Maple Woods for free because my mom works there,” Lloyd said. “So I don’t really need an offer or anything. But, yeah, they know I’m coming and they’re preparing for me.”
In addition to his family connection, Lloyd chose MCC-Maple Woods because it’s an easy commute from Excelsior Springs to the school, he said.
