Kathryn L. Walter, 85, of Excelsior Springs, Mo. (formerly of Windsor, Mo.), died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at the Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Mo.
She was born April 15, 1928, in Clinton, Mo., the daughter of John William Walden and Opel R. (Myers) Walden. On April 27, 1948, also in Clinton, she married Robert Earl Walter and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2005.
Kathryn was an antique doll collector and dealer, traveling the United States exhibiting at doll shows. Her talents also included oil painting and she enjoyed flowers and vegetable gardening. Kathryn was also a talented landscaper, creating beautiful garden areas in her own yard. She was a member of the Windsor Assembly of God, but was currently attending Pisgah Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs.
Survivors include three sons, Philip E. Walter, Salt Lake City, Utah, Stephen W. Walter, Firestone, Colo., and Mark D. Walter, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild “on the way”; three brothers, Edwin N. “Ed” Walden, Warsaw, Mo., Roy Lee Walden, Griffin, Ga., and Arthur W. Walden, Winnsboro, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Martha Marie Walden; and a half-brother, James E. Jones.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Rev. Murlin Anstine officiating. Burial will be in the Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Mo.
