Charles “Max” Barnett, 77, Kansas City, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at the Riverside Nursing Home in Riverside, Mo.
Max was born Oct. 23, 1935, in Grundy County, the son of Addie Grace Barnett-Sommerville and Burleigh Montell Barnett. On Oct. 21, 1956, he married Bonnie Marlene (King) Barnett. He completed his ‘Active Duty’ in the US Army on Aug. 17, 1956 and then continued in the Army Reserve until Oct. 31, 1961.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bonnie Marlene Barnett; and one brother, William R. Ishmeal.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Barnett and Monty Barnett; three daughters, Beverly Baker, Revae Martinez and Kay Banning; one brother, Myron Rex Barnett; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 19, at Tower View Baptist Church in Kansas City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the 10th Street Baptist Church in Trenton. Burial will be in the Rural Dale Cemetery near Laredo, Mo. Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice House at North Kansas City Hospital.
