Walter Turner

Walter R. Turner, 65, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012.  Walter was born in Kansas City, Mo., to John George and Helen Louise Schooley Turner.  He retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad in May of 2007, after 42 years of service.  He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the Army, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds received in action.  Walter was a life member of the Liberty VFW.  He was also a member of the Excelsior Springs Eagles and Elks lodges.  He had been a member of the Union Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Candace Turner; sons and their spouses, Richard and Renee Turner of Freer, Texas, and Russ and Kelly Turner of Excelsior Springs; his brothers and their spouses, John and Cheryl Turner and Larry and Sandy Turner; grandsons, Otto and Zane Turner of Freer, Texas; and a granddaughter, Lindsey Deason, stationed in Virginia with the U.S. Navy.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Walter’s name to the Missouri City Cemetery Association, in care of Brenda McCoy, 8812 Stillhouse Rd., Liberty, MO 64068.  Fond memories and condolences for the family may be left at www.churcharcherpasley.com. Arrangements are through Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home in Liberty.
