*Helen White
Helen V. White, 83, Warrensburg, Mo., passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at the Western Missouri Medical Center. She was born July 27, 1924, in the Robbins community of Johnson County, Mo., the daughter of Manning Clay and Almeda Mabel (White) Robbins. On Oct. 22, 1950, she was united in marriage to Roy Edward White at her parents' home in the Robbins community. She graduated as a valedictorian of her class of 1941 at Farmers High School. She also attended Central Missouri State Teachers College and St. Luke's School of Nursing, and graduated as a Registered Nurse. Mrs. White worked as a nurse for Dr. Folkner, Dr. Maxon and Dr. Glover, retiring in 1986 after 26 years of service. Mrs. White was a lifelong member of the Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the Robbins community. She was also a member of the Fayetteville Homemakers Club and in the past had been a leader with the Mt. Moriah 4-H Club. Survivors include her husband, Roy E. White, Warrensburg; four children, Anne Patrick and husband, Ray, and Tom White and wife, Darles, all of Warrensburg, Janet Morehead and husband, Larry, Excelsior Springs, and Roy Lee White and wife, Carol, Warrensburg; a sister, Mabel Smith and husband, C.D., Odessa; 12 grandchildren, Jim Livengood, Bryan Livengood, Justin Patric, Barie Patrick, Hannah Copenhaver, Julie White, Andrew White, Rob Morehead, Skyler Morehead, Cara Hodkins, Travis Duchesne and Allison Duchesne; and nine and three-fourths great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, with the Rev. Bill Runyon officiating. Burial will in the Liberty Cemetery, north of Warrensburg. Pallbearers are the grandsons, Jim Livengood, Bryan Livengood, Justin Patrick, Travis Duchesne, Andrew White, Rob Morehead and Skyler Morehead. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Crest Ridge Dolly Parton Imagination Program or the Trails Regional Library Children's Program, in care of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home, 617 N. Emma McPheeters
Emma Lou (Carithers) Roush McPheeters, 80, Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Lawson, Mo., died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at her home. Mrs. McPheeters was born Sept. 22, 1927, in Bentonville, Ark., the daughter of John Wesley and Jessie E. (Chiles) Carithers. She was married to John C. Roush on Sept. 23, 1944; he preceded her in death Dec. 5, 1999. She was married to Billy Charles McPheeters on Jan. 1, 2002; he survives. Following her first marriage, she was a homemaker. She and her husband moved to Kansas City in 1948, and she worked in various office positions for Ward's and Sears. She then moved to Excelsior Springs and, later, Lawson, where she lived for 25 years. Following their marriage, Bill and Emma moved to Kansas City. She was a member of the Northland Cathedral, and had been a Sunday school teacher at the Lawson Assembly of God Church for many years. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, John Roush, Gladstone, and Steven Roush, Apache Junction, Ariz.; Bill's sons, Billy E. McPheeters, Gladstone, and Ricky D. McPheeters, Kansas City; one brother, Bill Carithers, Rogers, Ark.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, at the Northland Cathedral, 101 NW 99th St., Kansas City. Visitation will be held following the funeral service at the church. A committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Lawson Cemetery. Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northland Cathedral Missionary Program.
Norma G. Woods
Norma Gene Woods, 83, Richmond, Mo. (formerly of Orrick, Mo., and Independence, Mo.), died Monday, June 30, 2008, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond, Mo. Ms. Woods was born Aug. 12, 1924, in Portland, Ind., the daughter of Elmer and Opal Bisel. She came to Independence at the age of 18, and worked as a waitress at Waid's. She was a factory seamstress for many years and also a landlord with rental properties in Independence. She was of the Mormon faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Samuel E. Norris, Jr. Survivors include a grandson, Quentin Norris, Richmond; and two sisters, Ruth Shockney, Farmland, Ind., and Jeane Cassel, Portland, Ind. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, at the Cravens Cemetery near Camden, Mo. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
Bertha Wrisinger
Bertha Leverne Wrisinger, 73, Excelsior Springs, Mo. (formerly of Richmond, Mo., and Macon, Mo.), died Monday, June 30, 2008, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Mo. Ms. Wrisinger was born Oct. 19, 1934, in Rayville, the daughter of Earl and Frances (Martin) Payne. She was married to William Raymond Fairchild on May 13, 1955; he preceded her in death on April 29, 1974. She was married to Roy Delbert Wrisinger on Nov. 29, 1975; he preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1993. She was a lifelong resident of Ray County, with the exception of several years when she lived in Macon. She was president of the PTA for several years when her children were in school. She worked in Vacation Bible School and helped with many church meals. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Macon and attended Grace Family Worship in Excelsior Springs. In addition to her husbands and her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Gayle Wrisinger. Survivors include her children, Raymond Fairchild, Douglas Fairchild, Cindy Bonuchi; stepchildren, Ronald Wrisinger, Rick Wrisinger, Nancy Black and Bonnie Rheuter; one sister, Nora Helt; one brother, George Payne; four grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 5, at Polley Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens in Richmond.
Sharon Hudlemeyer
Sharon L. Hudlemeyer, 51, died Saturday, June 28, 2008, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Hudlemeyer was born Jan. 4, 1957, in Onega, Kan. She was a homemaker, mother and teacher. She attended Northland Abundant Life Fellowship. Survivors include her husband, Michael; three children, Michelle Cobb, Bonnie Carter and Bradley Hudlemeyer; her parents, Opal and Duaine Alderman; brothers, Terry Newell and Larry Alderman; sisters, Ramona Dry, Sherry Brannon, Marie Wiltfong and Myra Browning; and five granddaughters. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel in Liberty, where services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 2. Burial in Glenridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Action Inc., 4010 N. Lynn Ct., Independence, Mo. 64055.
Carol Nance
Carol Ann Nance, 65, Lexington, Mo., died Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Lexington Care Center. Memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Lexington United Methodist Church. Arrangements are through Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cody Ellison Scholarship Fund.
