Excelsior Springs High School graduate manhandled the competion at the Midwest Classic when it came to scoring. Ashworth, a redshirt sophomore men’s wrestler at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, outscored his competition 62-13 at the Dec. 17 tournament in Indianapolis, including 58-8 in four victories. He went 4-1, with his one loss coming on a 5-4 decision to Garrett Wells, a University of Central Oklahoma sophomore, in the title match of the 184-pound division. The tournament was the final competiton of 2023 for Ashworth and his fellow Mules.
