ES girls soccer team keeps rolling

Teams are finding it difficult to beat Excelsior Springs in varsity girls soccer. The Tigers had won five of their last six games entering Tuesday’s road meeting with Oak Park. After winning two out of three and placing second in their own tournament, held April 6-10, the girls won two more last week. They downed Savannah April 15 at Savannah, then cruised past Raytown South 8-0 April 17 at Tiger Stadium. Excelsior Springs took the opening lead against Savannah on junior Ava Morton’s goal in the 11th minute. Senior Abby Rash made it 2-0 in the 18th minute. Morton scored again in the 21st minute. Senior Bailey Carder helped the Tigers take a 4-0 halftime lead by finishing a pass from younger sister Gracie Carder in the 39th minute. The Savages scored their two goals during the second half. Senior goalie Allison Armstrong made 17 saves to help Excelsior Springs get the victory. The Tigers finished their rout of Ray South in 50 minutes of game time. Play was stopped because of the…
