The Excelsior Springs High School Lady Tiger softball team held a softball camp this week, aiming to help area youth players improve their personal game. A work in progress, the girls are trying to include the youth every year, with hopes the camp will grow and help filter Excelsior Springs youth into the high school program. Camp-goers first learned a series of throwing drills, learning the correct way to release the ball and what angle the body should face. Each participant learned fielding techniques as well as hitting, bunting, base running and team drills. The camp not only helped young players improve, but also helped ESHS softball players develop and fine-tune their skills while giving them a better understanding of coaching styles and philosophies. All money raised from the camp will help purchase equipment and other necessities for the Lady Tiger Team.
