Amid all the recent accusations and threats by Gov. Mike Parson to punish the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for revealing a significant security flaw in the state’s online database, the most disturbing element is the state’s underlying threat to the freedom of the press for the news media doing its job.

Job Corps taking students

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The answer to “when” Excelsior Springs Job Corps would enroll new students for in-person instruction and job training is “now.” “The Job Corps Centers in Missouri (Excelsior Springs, St. Louis and Mingo) are currently accepting applications and encouraging individuals to apply,” a Department of Labor spokeswoman, Rhonda Burke, Chicago, answered Monday.

City merges parks, center director jobs

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The City Council and Parks and Recreation Board, or PRB, agreed to merge two positions, pending board approval Tuesday, Parks and Recreation Director Nate Williams told city leaders.

Wildlife on state roads

JEFFERSON CITY – Deer, coyotes and other wildlife are evident in rural Missouri and pose a danger when jumping in front of vehicles. The Missouri Department of Transportation reminds motorists to be prepared for the sudden appearance of wild animals on all roads during the cooler fall months.
