Like anything else in life, being a sports parent has its ups and downs. For me, there have been more ups than downs.

Excelsior Springs is sending another student-athlete to college. Joseph James, who graduated this spring from high school, recently signed a letter of intent to study at and run track for Missouri Valley College, a four-year, Marshall-based private college with an enrollment of just more than 1,500 students.

Marquez McCant is glad to be practicing high school football again. After having his 2023 varsity season cut short by an injury, the quarterback trained this summer with his Excelsior Springs teammates.
