A dedicated Excelsior Springs School District (ESSD) coach has been recognized by the community for his outstanding contributions to the development of studentathletes. Excelsior Springs Middle School (ESMS) Athletic Director Richie Marsh has been honored with first place in the Town and Country Leader’s prestigious 2024 Community Excellence Awards in the Best Coach category.

Two arrested in counter-human trafficking operation

A counter-human trafficking operation led to the arrest of two men who attempted to engage in sexual activity with a child and provided services to over a dozen potential trafficking victims. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), along with other law enforcement agencies and advocacy organizations, conducted the operation on Jan.

Wednesday, January 15 At 9:32 a.m., Frederick Walters Jr., 57, was arrested for (MISD/ C) assault – 4th degree – pursuant to subdivision; (felony) assault – 2 nd degree; burglary 1st degree; armed criminal action.

Homestand awaits ES girls after 1-2 stretch

ES Excelsior Springs varsity girls basketball coach JD Biermanii and his Tigers won’t have to leave town to start February. The girls, who have no games scheduled this week, will begin a three-game homestand Feb.
