A POSSIBLE REPEAT Coach Cody Beck and his Excelsior Springs varsity boys wrestling team are eyeing a repeat title at the Lee’s Summit Holiday Tournament. Excelsior Springs won the 2024 team title with 255 points – 6.5 points ahead of runner-up Lee’s Summit West.

Excelsior Springs’ growing business community gathered this week for the Chamber of Commerce’s annual holiday luncheon, a celebration of progress that highlighted three local honorees and a year marked by new partnerships and steady growth. Chamber Director Brian Rice said the chamber welcomed 30 new members in the past 12 months, a sign that businesses “want to be part of our future.”

Excelsior Springs School District officials are providing additional details after a firearm was discovered at Excelsior Springs High School, left in a backpack brought onto campus by an adult spectator during a recent wrestling tournament.

Fire services in Excelsior Springs will now receive a larger share of the city’s Public Safety Sales Tax revenue, a change aimed at addressing the rising cost of fire trucks, ambulances and other long-term equipment needs.
