Casi Joy to bring country and pop vocals to Farris Theatre

August 31, 2018—Music lovers and sports fans hear the name Casi Joy, and now local audiences can hear and see her too as the up-and-coming country and pop singer comes to the Farris Theatre kick off the venue’s 10th concert season.

Joy—who has earned fame on television’s “The Voice” and as a vocalist who belts out a powerful rendition of the national anthem at Royals, Chiefs, Sporting KC and KU games—brings her talent to the Richmond theater Saturday, Sept. 15.

“I love playing in small towns because I myself come from a small town,” said Joy, who hails from Smithville. “The crowds feel like family, and the people are always so welcoming and accommodating.”

Joy, a singer, songwriter, musician and dancer, said the audience at the Farris can expect “anything and everything” during her show in Richmond.

“I love to switch up my set lists and play all types of genres,” Joy said. “So they’ll hear anything from Led Zeppelin to yodeling!”

Joining her on stage are musicians Joy calls the “absolute best.” They include “The” Go-Go Ray, aka the “Drum Counselor,” Zach Hord on guitar and Chris Thompson on bass and back-up vocals.

“We’re a small band, but the guys sure are mighty,” Joy said. “We have such a blast on stage together. I’m so lucky to have them playing with me.”

Now from Kansas City, Joy began singing at the age 5 and performed with the Midwest Opry Circuit and Radio Disney. She has recorded in Nashville and opened for the likes of Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts.

She made it to the Live Playoffs round of Season 12 of the NBC’s “The Voice.” She chose Blake Shelton as her coach and earned praise for her flawless yodeling.

“The show was an incredible experience, and Blake was great to work with,” Joy said. “It definitely opened a lot of doors for me.”

Joy’s been on the road since the television appearance and doesn’t plan on slowing down. She recently released her latest single, “I Do,” along with the song’s music video. She’s also putting together a Christmas CD.

“So be on the lookout for that,” she said.

Joy’s show begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m.
