LIBERTY – Statewide elections produced no surprises, with big-name candidates – Republican Mike Parson and Democrat Nicole Galloway – easily winning their respective primaries for governor Tuesday.

LIBERTY – November elections will bring competition for seats in Ray and Clay counties, but the August primaries produced little in-party competition – no races in Ray County and three races affecting eastern Clay County.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Excelsior Springs Hospital added three new services to its outpatient clinic: DERMATOLOGY Dr. Marija Tonkovic-Capin is a board-certified dermatologist who specializes in cosmetic dermatology, dermatologic oncology and dermatologic care.

WASHINGTON – The IRS reminds seniors and retirees that they are not required to take money out of their IRAs and workplace retirement plans this year. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, or CARES Act, waives a required minimum distribution, or RMD, during 2020 for IRAs and retirement plans, including beneficiaries with inherited accounts.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Speaking to audience members on both sides of the football field, Excelsior Springs High School Principal Christen Everett expressed pride in the 2020 graduates, who endured a difficult final school year.
