LIBERTY – Liberty Hospital has been recognized nationally by The American College of Cardiology, or ACC, and awarded Chest Pain Center Accreditation for demonstrated expertise and commitment in treating patients with chest pain.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The varsity tennis team got to stay home last week. Excelsior Excelsior Springs hosted back-to-back home duals, falling 9-0 March 30 to Warrensburg and defeating Lexington 6-3 April 1.

CARROLLTON – In late March, KMZU announced its latest Dream Teams for high school boys and girls basketball. Excelsior Springs juniors Mallory Millsap and Rylie Stottlemyre made the cut for the girls team.

CHILLICOTHE – The Tigers had “a great night” April 1, when they visited Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium for the Chillicothe Invitational, coach Jonah Albertson said. “By the end of the meet, we had an impressive total of 44 p.r.’s (personal records)!” Albertson said.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The black and gold had a full slate of baseball games last week. During the week, the ballclub made three road trips, playing March 30 at Harrisonville, March 31 at Benton of St.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Assistant Superintendent Heather Gross is using a $582,000 grant the district received to address learning issues. “I’ve really challenged our principals to come up with some unique ways to be able to support our kids with social-emotional learning,” Gross told district leaders during the school board’s March meeting.

JEFFERSON CITY – Rep. Derek Grier has filed legislation to support home-based businesses in Missouri.

EXCELSIOR – The school district has set summer instruction plans. Summer school Director Anneliese Tadlock and Aerin O’Dell, assistant superintendent for academic services, presented the learning plans in a memo and in a presentation to district leaders.

WOOD HEIGHTS – Whether Wood Heights Fire Department will have equipment that continues to work when needed is up to voters Tuesday. They will vote Proposition A up or down.
