The Excelsior Springs City Council unanimously approved an agreement with Navitas to replace and upgrade the community center’s pool air handling system, commonly referred to as the “pool pack.”

February is recognized as National Children’s Dental Health Month, a dedicated time to raise awareness about the significance of good oral hygiene practices among children and their families. This initiative encourages parents and caregivers to instill proper dental care habits early in life.

A local organization’s announcement to host a poverty simulation event in Excelsior Springs sparked controversy before it even took place, with many residents voicing strong opinions both for and against. However, after attending the event on Jan. 29, one attendee shared how their perspective shifted. The participant’s shift in perspective made me reflect on the importance of engaging in challenging conversations with an open and receptive mindset.

Ross Rea, a dedicated fifth-grade teacher at Lewis Elementary School, has been honored as the Best Teacher in the Town and Country Leader’s 2024 Community Excellence Awards. In just his second year of teaching within the Excelsior Springs School District (ESSD), Rea has already made a significant impact on his students and the community.

Both of Orrick’s varsity basketball teams are looking to snap losing skids Friday, when they’re scheduled to host Wellington-Napoleon in I-70 Conference action. The Orrick girls, coached by Jonathan Kinder, nearly snapped their losing streak Tuesday.

Cooper Collins remains undefeated entering the boys wrestling postseason. The Excelsior Springs junior finished the regular season 33-0.
