Airborne crash into VFW roof detailed in report
Police have released new details about a crash that sent a vehicle airborne into the roof of the Clay-Ray Veterans Association building. The details shed light on what may have led to the incident and what witnesses saw.According to the report, Wendell C. Wright was driving eastbound on Missouri Highway 10 around 7:20 a.m. on May 28 when his vehicle launched from a wooded hillside, flipped multiple times and struck the roof of the Clay-Ray Veterans Association building at 208 Veterans Memorial Drive. No bystanders were injured and Wright was transported to Liberty Hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries.Witnesses described the vehicle becoming airborne after leaving the tree line above St. Louis Avenue.
