EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The coronavirus sank the plan to hold the free annual Waterfest in June, but organizers tossed the event a life-preserving new weekend, Aug. 28-29. The top draw, as always, will be bands on the Main Stage, event Chairman Brian Rice said. “The festival has two stages placed on either side of the festival, with over 90 vendors placed up and down Broadway in downtown Excelsior Springs,” he said. “We have a Main Stage across from the Hall of Waters and the Good News stage on the west side of the festival run by Crescent Lake Christian Center, a church here in Excelsior Springs.” The Main Stage will host three acts Friday night: Gypsies, Doves & Dreams, Robb Stewart and Elton Dan.
