Bicentennial display arrives in April
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The exhibit “Struggle for Statehood” will come to the Excelsior Springs Museum and Archives in April, operations chief Kathy Duncan said.
“This is a traveling exhibit that’s coming from the Missouri Humanities Council,” Duncan said. “It’s a very impressive display. We look forward to that.”
The museum hosts traveling displays once every two or three years, Duncan said.
“This is kind of a big deal for us,” she said. 1821 marks the 200th anniversary of Missouri’s statehood. The exhibit will be at the museum, East Broadway and South Main streets, from April 13 to May 14.
The exhibit examines the conflict, crisis and compromise surrounding Missouri’s admission to the Union. The Missouri Humanities Council and its partners developed the exhibit, which has traveled across the state in commemoration of the bicentennial this year.
