Board discusses improvements, recognizes students

New building improvement plans were discussed during the monthly meeting of the Excelsior Springs School Board. The group agreed to remodel the high school’s weight room, as well as purchase weights and equipment, with funds not to exceed $400,000. The board was updated on Career Center upgrades which qualified for the Missouri Area Career Center Opportunities (MACCO) grant. The funding for the upgrade and enhancement are projected to exceed $800,000, with $400,000 being reimbursed through the MACCO grant. Additional building improvements are still to come for the Early Childhood Center, Cornerstone Elementary, Elkhorn Elementary, Lewis Elementary, Excelsior Springs middle and high schools and Career Center. Projected improvement plans will be conducted until 2027. In addition, the board installed newly elected school board members Darren McKown, Kenny Manley and Jill Evert.
