Bond reduced for suspect charged in high-speed pursuit

A Kansas City man has been granted a bond modification after being arrested for allegedly fleeing from law enforcement through Excelsior Springs.Jimmie L. Chapman, 48, is charged with two felonies including aggravated fleeing a stop or detention and first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.Chapman recently appeared before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Louis Angles where he entered a not guilty plea and requested a bond modification. Angles agreed to reduce the bond amount from $75,000 to $20,000 after considering Chapman’s ability to pay, likeliness to appear, safety of victims and community, nature of the offense, family ties, employment, length of residency and record of conviction.Chapman will appear next at 9 a.m. on Jan. 7, 2025.On Dec. 10, a Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a red Ford F-150 turning north on 69 Highway from the One Stop Gas Station, according to the report.
