A fire at a local auto repair shop has caused the tragic death of an Excelsior Springs businessman.Authorities declared Darren Hart, owner of Hart’s Auto Repair, deceased on the scene of the fire at his business.The Excelsior Springs Police (ESPD) and Fire (ESFD) Departments were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at 1:16 p.m. on Oct. 17. Upon the arrival at the scene, a male on fire was witnessed by ESPD Lieutenant Ryan Dowdy, Lieutenant Jeremiah Renne and ESFD Assistant Chief Joe Cline, along with multiple other bystanders in the parking lot.“The building was showing heavy smoke and fire from all sides,” said ESFD Deputy Chief Cameron White. “An adult victim was located and removed by the first-responding pumper crew.
