The Excelsior Springs Board of Education is seeking a candidate to fill a vacant seat. Dr. Steve Houck resigned in June so that he could serve as a science teacher at the high school.

With Houck’s seat vacant, board President Tray Harkins explained that the district would begin accepting nominations for a new board member.

Anyone wishing to apply for the board seat may pick up an application between now and July 12 from the district offices, located at 300 W. Broadway

The board will review the applications during its July 25 work session.

Candidates will be interviewed during open session of the Aug. 8 board meeting and a final decision will be made prior to the September board meeting, where the new member will be sworn in.
