Excelsior Springs Area Chamber President Brian Rice invites westside business owners to attend an upcoming city council meeting where the petition creating the westside Community Improvement District (CID) will be presented. The petition met the necessary requirement of having over 50 percent signatures in order to be passed on to the council, said Rice, adding the petition has been filed with Excelsior Springs City Clerk Shannon Stroud. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17 at the Hall of Waters. “If there is anyone in the (west) district who has questions, come to the public meeting,” said the chamber president. Improving the city of Excelsior Springs is a mission for both the chamber and the Excelsior City Council. With multiple projects in place, the westside CID is a priority, he said. “We sent notices out to all the property owners that are on the west side and we created a CID for those businesses.
