Charge follows gunfire in Excelsior Springs
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Allegedly firing and then pointing a weapon in Excelsior Springs resulted in Kaleb G. McIntosh, 19, Excelsior Springs, facing a felony charge.
“Everything turned out well. Nobody was injured,” Capt. Robert Warner reported April 15 to the City Council.
Reasons for the incident near an apartment complex in the Westview area are sketchy.
“There was some kind of a disturbance. Originally, it came out as a shooting. He did not shoot at the individual. … As I understand it, he fired five rounds in the air and then pointed the gun at our victim,” Police Chief Gregory Dull said Monday. “He never shot at our victim. Obviously, what he did was still unlawful.”
The incident occurred around 7:03 p.m. April 14.
“We made an arrest shortly after the incident,” Dull said.
After receiving an alert, Liberty police located and held McIntosh, and Excelsior Springs made the arrest, Dull said.
Court records show the state April 18 charged McIntosh with unlawful use of a weapon and set bond at $75,000.
Court records give an Excelsior Springs address for McIntosh, who came from the Ozarks area in south-central Missouri, Dull said.
“He’s not a local kid,” Dull said.
Allegations are not proof of guilt, which is determined through the judicial system.
