City accepts land to enlarge park
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Luna Valley Park will get bigger.
On Aug. 2, the City Council accepted the deeding of Anne Redwine’s property at 1216 Curtis Ave. to the city for the park. Redwine inherited the property from her family, Parks and Recreation Director Nate Williams told city leaders.
“It’s been (passed down) through generations, (it) sounds like,” she said.
The land will not be annexed until after the razing of a garage and house on the property, Williams stated in a July 29 memo to city leaders. In the meantime, the two buildings will be used to help train Excelsior Springs Fire Department personnel, he said.
