A proposed expansion of multifamily housing near North Jesse James Road is moving forward in Excelsior Springs.Council members approved a rezoning request during a recent meeting for property at 940 North Jesse James Road, allowing the land to be rezoned from a C-O (non-retail business) district to R-3 (cluster, townhouse and garden apartment).City documents note the rezoning would allow property owners Fielding and Darla Staton to expand the site’s existing multifamily residential use by constructing three additional duplexes, adding six new units to the property.City Planner Joshua Garrett explained the property is currently zoned C-O, which does not permit the proposed expansion under the existing city code.
