City awards Metro Asphalt streetscaping bid
Metro Asphalt Inc. has some streetscaping work to do in Excelsior Springs.
On Aug. 1 at the Hall of Waters, the City Council approved the Independence- based company’s bid to work on four areas for $660,550.75. An engineering estimate had put the cost at $766,867, Chad Birdsong, public works director, stated in a July 27 memo and reiterated before the vote.
“With those numbers, it was a very good bid,” said Birdsong, who also mentioned that Metro Asphalt was one of two companies to bid.
The work is budgeted at $810,478, according to Birdsong. Funding from two sources will cover the costs, he stated – the Transportation Trust, $800,800; and the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), $57,878. MARC is distributing Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act funding, Birdsong stated.
