City awards roofing, skylight bid for P.D.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – A Kansas City company won the bid for a new police department skylight and roofing materials.
The City Council approved a $214,000 bid from Delta Innovative Services of Kansas City, Kansas, as submitted by interim Chief Chris Weber, when the council convened Dec. 20 at the Hall of Waters. Per a Power-Point presentation by SFS Architecture Inc. of Kansas City, dated Dec. 13, the work will include about 3,500 square feet “of full roofing assembly,” ranging from flashings to insulation material, and about 750 square feet of “skylight panels, trim and accessories.” Weber told city leaders two companies submitted

The bid approval process began in August, when the Capital Improvement Authority “agreed to consider roof replacement for the police department,” Weber told city leaders. The next month, the city contracted SFS’s Brian Garvey as project overseer, he said.
Possible contractors and the city had a pre-bidding get-together in November, when bidding began, Weber said. The Capital Improvement Authority gave Delta the nod Dec. 13, he said.
