EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The city has granted Enhanced Enterprise Zone status to two Danny Miller businesses. On Aug. 16, the City Council passed resolutions to include in the zone Signature Solid Surfaces, Miller’s countertop company; and Miller’s Custom Cabinets. The approvals grant 50%, 10-year tax abatements to those businesses, as requested by Miller, city documents state. The work on Signature Solid Surfaces covered by the abatement was “completed a number of years ago,” yet the property had not received zone status, Economic Development Director Melinda Mehaffy told city leaders. Because Miller requested his cabinet company receive zone status, he requested the countertop company be added, too, Mehaffy said. Work on Miller’s Cabinets had “just been completed,” Mehaffy said. “The property owner has done an amazing job and has added a significant value to our community,” she said.
